Birmingham Virtual Academy
Vision and Mission
Birmingham Community Charter Independent Study Virtual Academy (BVA) strives to create a personalized, individualized, supportive, and academically rigorous program with the intent to foster confidence, self-advocacy, and help develop more independent thinkers who are prepared for their post high school academic and career endeavors. Our goal is to prepare students for the real world by giving students autonomy to tailor how they learn while providing curated, individualized support in a non-traditional setting.
Birmingham Community Charter Independent Study School mission is to create an educational program where course content is UC/CSU A-G approved, aligned to grade level standards and provided at a level of quality and intellectual challenge equivalent to in-person instruction. Our mission is to ensure that our students' academic, social-emotional, psychological, and behavioral needs are met while ensuring joint decision making among all stakeholders throughout the educational journey of our students.
